It's Christmas! A phrase with translates to LAZY in the Lewellyn house. Haha!

This was pretty much the layout of our day...

haha we are such exciting people!

I hope everyone is staying safe in the Blizzard warning in my home town/state! Be careful if you are out driving! Oh and go sledding for me!
Yesterday I told James that since it is 70 degree and obviously won't be snowing here that we should get skate boards and put some sort of sled like object (I said a mattress haha) on them and roll down the hill on it haha! He said it sounded like a disaster!

What did y'all do for your Christmas?

I think Christmas will be more exciting for us once we have kids but for now we will make it a lazy day!

Don't forget to vote for my next hobby! And don't forget to check out my recipe section of my blog!

Christmas Eve!!!!

"...Joy, unspeakable joy
And overflowing where no tongue can tell
Joy, unspeakable joy
Rises in my soul, never lets me go.."

(The Lewellyn Christmas Tree 2012 - that's Diesel under the tree

Christmas is always exciting but I think it is really exciting for us this year because even though we were dating last year this is the first Christmas we have actually spent in the same house (the same state actually) and this is our first Christmas as a married couple! We got a real Christmas tree which I have never had before! It smells so nice! This is the first Christmas I won't be spending with my family but with all the money we just spent on our wedding a trip to Indiana (my family) or Massachusetts (James' family) just wasn't in the budget. While I miss not being with family I like that we are doing our own Christmas and starting our own traditions!
This morning James and I went to the commissary for the first time. It was funny trying to find everything. I never realized how I was used to the set-up of Wal-Mart. Turns out we missed an entire section where they have all the chips and water ect. They call it the warehouse section! oops! Things to remember for next time!
Tonight we went to the candlelight service at church! LOTS of singing! I love the singing! 6 women sang Carol of the bells and it was amazing! I am going to post a link to Carol of the bells by 'Straight No Chaser' I think they are awesome!

When we came home there was a box that the mail lady delivered form my parents so we opened our gifts tonight!   I got lots of Rachel Rae cookware! I LOVE it! and we got nerf disc shooters which of course means that we had a nerf war in the living room! They also got James Call of Duty Black Ops II which means I will probably talk to him sometime after new years...just kidding he played for a couple hours but now we are watching Family Guy Christmas Episode haha!
I made cracker candy early. My mom makes this every year and I started making it myself my senior year of college. I call it cracker candy and If y'all are on Pinterest (which I am sure you are) you have probably seen it on there called Christmas Crack. If you take a look under the tab 'Laney's Recipes' I will post it for ya! It is sooooo good!

Tomorrow I am going to make Cornish Game Hens made with garlic and rosemary! I have never made them before so here's to hoping they are good! Maybe I will remember to take a picture for y'all!

A Big Day For The Lewellyn's

SUNDAY!!!

Ever since James and I have started going to church I really look forward to Sundays! We didn't really go to church when I was growing up. I remember going when I was really young but not when I was old enough to understand what was going on. Once I was in college I always wanted to go but I wasn't sure where to go since I was in a different town and honestly I was intimidated. I felt like I didn't know as much as I should.
When James and started dating we always wanted to go but it never worked out because I had to work every Sunday.
Since we have lived in Alabama we decided we wanted to make church a part of our lives. We found a church that we though we liked. We went a couple of times but it turned out that it was not the right place for us. We then found the church we are currently going to and we love it! We had are both believers in Christ but neither one of us has ever been baptized. We made that commitment today! We got up in front of everyone and made our commitment! So, sometime soon we will both be baptized! :)

After Church we came home and made today a super lazy day! Haha it seems like everyday is a lazy day this past week. James is on two weeks leave and even though he has to study a lot we are loving this lazy time.
I should probably not be lazy again this next week. I need to go to the gym! Starting the begining of January I have signed up for 'bootcamp'. Bootcamp is a  6 week long program on post through the MWR (moral, welfare, recreation) with pylometrics, agility drills, running, and more. It is a 6 week program with 1 hour workouts, 5 days a week. There are consultations with personal trainers as well. I have heard bootcamp is no joke! There is tire flipping, rope climbing, ruck marches ect.  HOPEFULLY I will lose weight! I really want to do this, all of it, including eating better. The eating is the really hard part for me because I have a sweet tooth. Okay, its more like sweet teeth because I just want sweets all the time! I have read that the less you eat sweet the less you want them. I believe this but the getting started is the hard part and when it comes to food I am weak!!!!
**any tips, trick, or encouragement is welcome!  Leave me a comment and let me know how you do it!**There are two gyms on post known as the little gym and the big gym (I am sure they have actually names but I like little an big) The little gym which is where I normally go is closed for the two week holiday break. I guess I will have to try something new and go to the big gym tomorrow...eeek I always hate going to a new gym because I feel lost and then I don't accomplish anything. Hopefully I can learn my way around quick!

Making New Friends

Today has been relaxing and stressful at the same time. I didn't really do anything today. I have just been hanging out watching tv and wasting time on Pinterest! My husband on the other hand has spent his day trying to figure out why my jeep won't run. He thinks he has it narrowed down to: the battery, the alternator, or the starter. I sure hope it is one of those because as much as I want a Hyundai Sonata a new car is not in the budget right now!

We donated a bunch of household items to a needy man today. We went through all the storage we had in the garage and realized that we have went from two houses to one house and had double of a lot of things! What better way to get rid of them than to  give them to someone who can't afford to get them on their own.

I was reading another blog today and a topic that keeps popping up in my life showed up again..How hard it is to make friends as an adult.
This is so obvious in my life right now! I think it is hard for any adult to make friends but I think it is even a little harder for people like me. I am a stay at home wife of a soldier who moves ever couple years. So on top of not having the 'workplace environment' to meet people, I have to start the process over every couple years.
I honestly think that making friends is harder than dating. It always seems awkward to ask someone of the same gender to go do something for the first time (like a date). We always have couples over for dinner but it seems like that is as far as the friendships go. How do you go from that step to hangin out with another wife? James and I have recently talked about how important it is that even though we are married that we each still have our own things and our own time. I don't mean this in a bad way at all but my husband is a loner. He is completely happy hangin out by himself. That is what he really likes to do, so for him having things to do without me is easy. Me on the other hand I like to do things with other people. I like to have people to talk to. I have been wanting to do a 'girls night' for some time now. The thing I am lacking is the group of girls to do that haha. I literally have zero people that I hang out with. There is one couple that we hang out with and that girl and I get along so well I can honestly say she is a friend. The problem there is that she is in the Army and Flight School just like My husband so her time is spent in class and studying. Which is very important so I completely understand that.
I have met a couple ladies at the gym in my spinning class but I don't know how to get that from class to something else like lunch or drinks. My most recent idea has been to host a Scentsy party in January. I am a Scentsy consultant so this would be easy for me! I am going to give that a shot but if that is a bust I will be at a loss.
**Any ideas/tips are welcome**

How do y'all make friends as adults?

Oh and everyone please vote on my poll to the left <------------ Help me decide what hobby to tackle next! :)

VOTE.vote.VOTE

Hey Friends!

Take a second to participate in the poll on the left side of my page! Help me to decide what hobby to tackle next... Some may be easier or funnier than others but I get bored super easy and y'all would be doing me a huge favor by helping me decide what to tackle next! :)

Every Vote Counts!

Tell your friends about me!

As I am sure you read in the 'title' and 'about me' section of this blog...My name is Laney! I was born and raised in Indiana, the home of corn, beans, and basketball. I grew up in a small town of less than 5,000 people. After my 2007 high school graduation I left Clinton and enrolled at Ball State University, located in Muncie, Indiana home of the Cardinals! I majored in Athletic Training and graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor's degree! About a month after graduation I landed a pretty good job for a newly certified athletic trainer as the athletic trainer at a private school, preschool-senior, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.  Around the time of my interview at UHA (the school I worked at) I met this awesome guy (James) online -yes, I said online- and we started texting. We went on a date while I was in Kentucky for my orientation and started dating not long after that. Hopkinsville is located very close to the Kentucky/Tennessee Border so I decided to live in Clarksville, Tennessee.  Ft. Campbell Army Installation is located in Hopkinsville and that is where James was stationed.  I knew very quickly that our relationship was not just some fling! In December after I moved to Tennessee James PCSed to Ft. Rucker in Enterprise, Alabama and I began making trips to visit! Boy is that a long drive! We decided that it was time for us to live together so I made the decision to leave my job and move to Alabama in June. James asked me to marry him in July and December 8, 2012 we got married in St. George Island, Florida on the beach! James and I have two wonderful pets Diesel (cat) and Optimus (dog). Diesel is pretty laid back and can sometimes be a little mean and Optimus is super cuddly, needy puppy with a head problem. Most people say cats have 9 lives. You never hear people say dogs have more than one life but Optimus proved that wrong when she had a seizure and her heart stopped. James and our roommate at the time gave her CPR and we took her to the vet! She now has medicine for her heart twice a day! We hate that she can't play too much but we are glad that she is better now!
As I said before James is in the Army. He is in training now to be a blackhawk pilot. He starts that course in January and then when he is finished around April-May we will be moving again. Not sure where yet, waiting on the Army to let us know. My days have been pretty boring up to now. I workout, clean house, and cook dinner but I am hoping to spice that up a bit with help from y'all. If you look over to the left of my page there is a poll for your opinions on what I should try to tackle next! Help me out! I love cooking. It is my new favorite thing to do! I am planning on posting recipes each day (leaving out the days we do duplicates). Feel free to post your favorite recipes as well! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all follow me!

enjoy!
