Our 1500 Mile move!

My View for 1500 miles.

This post is a bit late, okay very late! We packed the Alabama house, rented a 26' Penske truck, and filled it to the top! We planned to make the 1500 mile drive in two days, stopping for the night in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but as we got towards the evening on day one we realized that due to construction traffic and rain we were tired and hadn't made it as far as we had planned. With some internet searching from my sister (over the phone) we found a new hotel and stopped in Little Rock, Arkansas on day one Salina, Kansas.

For anyone planning to travel with fur babies (pets) I highly recommend LaQuinta Inn. They are pet friendly with no crazy rules like keeping your pet caged at all times. The only thing they told us was they would prefer if we didn't leave them alone and we were responsible for any damages they cause.

Optimus thought she should drive!
We had a very smooth trip. The most trouble we had was getting into the temporary apartment we are staying in until we close on our house. When we called ahead they told us we could pay all the deposits with debit/credit card but when we got here they decided they would only take a money order, which you can't get unless you have cash... To make a LONG story short it was a long 3 hours trying to get the cash needed to pay the deposits and get our keys! Business professionals giving misguided information to it's customers is one of my biggest pet peeves!

But all and all our trip was a success and we are here in the smallest apartment I have ever seen.

catching up!

It's been an exciting week at the Lewellyn house. Okay not so much for me but James flew a Blackhawk for the first time on Tuesday! I am so excited for him. He is so amazing and I love when good things happen for him!

My bootcamp class is still going strong. It is becoming a little easier to for me to complete the classes. I got a pretty awesome, by that I mean painful, bruise on my knee last week when we were doing the obstacle course. I tried to clear this large wooded object and didn't get my leg cleared over it but slammed my knee into it instead. Yeah, it felt great!

This picture doesn't really show how dark the bruise got but you can see the size. ouuuchy! The great thing about bootcamp is that the jeans that didn't fit me 4 weeks ago fit me now!!! YAY!

This morning we did yoga out by the lake on post. This sounds like it would be very relaxing a tranquil. I also thought it would be. I love yoga and I love how it makes me feel. The difference with this mornings yoga was that it was 45 degrees F, there were helicopters flying over head, and explosives going off. I guess that is as relaxing as it gets on an Army base haha!

<--- Isn't this what you want to see on your way to go yoga by the lake?!

Last weekend we went hiking with some friends at Conecuh National Forest! It was fun! I think I want to go hiking more often! We walked 6 miles and I was pooped after that. If you live in the southern Alabama, Northern, Florida area I recommend that you visit this national forest you will enjoy it!

I have been trying to cook healthier dinners which has lead me to start looking into Paleo meals. If you don't know what paleo is here you go:
The paleolithic diet (abbreviated paleo diet or paleodiet), also popularly referred to as the caveman diet, Stone Age diet and hunter-gatherer diet, is a modern nutritional plan based on the presumed ancient diet of wild plants and animals that various hominid species habitually consumed during the Paleolithic era—a period of about 2.5 million years which ended around 10,000 years ago with the development of agriculture and grain-based diets. In common usage, such terms as the "Paleolithic diet" also refer to the actual ancestral human diet.[1][2]
Centered on commonly available modern foods, the "contemporary" Paleolithic diet consists mainly of fish, grass-fed pasture raised meats, eggs, vegetables, fruit, fungi, roots, and nuts, and excludes wheat, grains, legumes, dairy products, potatoes, refined salt, refined sugar, and processed oils

I will post the three paleo recipes I  tried this week in the recipes tab of my blog. (Lemon Pepper Chicken, Magic Brownies, and Sweet and Sexy wings). I found an awesome website oh paleo meals you all should check it out www.paleomg.com

Yesterday was awesome! For those of you that haven't read my other entries. I posted a while back about how difficult I find it to make friends as an adult and how hard I find it to make friends in a new place. But yesterday a girl from my bootcamp class had a get together for all of us to have lunch and hang out and it was so much fun! I normally don't enjoy hanging out with women because it always turns into them bashing other people and that just isn't my style. This group of women was not like that at all. They are all so fun and friendly! After yesterday I want to have a get together at my place for everyone like she did. I am thinking it would be fun to have a cupcake party. I can't figure out how to go about a cupcake party. I currently have three ideas.
1- I could bake 3 or 4 kinds of cupcakes and have them ready when everyone gets here.
2- I people either bake some cupcakes to bring or bring drinks
3- I could bake the cupcakes but not ice them and have each person ice their cupcake as they wish.
Your comments would be much appreciated.

Let me know what y'all think. I would love to hear from my readers!

Tell your friends about me!

As I am sure you read in the 'title' and 'about me' section of this blog...My name is Laney! I was born and raised in Indiana, the home of corn, beans, and basketball. I grew up in a small town of less than 5,000 people. After my 2007 high school graduation I left Clinton and enrolled at Ball State University, located in Muncie, Indiana home of the Cardinals! I majored in Athletic Training and graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor's degree! About a month after graduation I landed a pretty good job for a newly certified athletic trainer as the athletic trainer at a private school, preschool-senior, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.  Around the time of my interview at UHA (the school I worked at) I met this awesome guy (James) online -yes, I said online- and we started texting. We went on a date while I was in Kentucky for my orientation and started dating not long after that. Hopkinsville is located very close to the Kentucky/Tennessee Border so I decided to live in Clarksville, Tennessee.  Ft. Campbell Army Installation is located in Hopkinsville and that is where James was stationed.  I knew very quickly that our relationship was not just some fling! In December after I moved to Tennessee James PCSed to Ft. Rucker in Enterprise, Alabama and I began making trips to visit! Boy is that a long drive! We decided that it was time for us to live together so I made the decision to leave my job and move to Alabama in June. James asked me to marry him in July and December 8, 2012 we got married in St. George Island, Florida on the beach! James and I have two wonderful pets Diesel (cat) and Optimus (dog). Diesel is pretty laid back and can sometimes be a little mean and Optimus is super cuddly, needy puppy with a head problem. Most people say cats have 9 lives. You never hear people say dogs have more than one life but Optimus proved that wrong when she had a seizure and her heart stopped. James and our roommate at the time gave her CPR and we took her to the vet! She now has medicine for her heart twice a day! We hate that she can't play too much but we are glad that she is better now!
As I said before James is in the Army. He is in training now to be a blackhawk pilot. He starts that course in January and then when he is finished around April-May we will be moving again. Not sure where yet, waiting on the Army to let us know. My days have been pretty boring up to now. I workout, clean house, and cook dinner but I am hoping to spice that up a bit with help from y'all. If you look over to the left of my page there is a poll for your opinions on what I should try to tackle next! Help me out! I love cooking. It is my new favorite thing to do! I am planning on posting recipes each day (leaving out the days we do duplicates). Feel free to post your favorite recipes as well! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all follow me!

enjoy!
