Our 1500 Mile move!

My View for 1500 miles.

This post is a bit late, okay very late! We packed the Alabama house, rented a 26' Penske truck, and filled it to the top! We planned to make the 1500 mile drive in two days, stopping for the night in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but as we got towards the evening on day one we realized that due to construction traffic and rain we were tired and hadn't made it as far as we had planned. With some internet searching from my sister (over the phone) we found a new hotel and stopped in Little Rock, Arkansas on day one Salina, Kansas.

For anyone planning to travel with fur babies (pets) I highly recommend LaQuinta Inn. They are pet friendly with no crazy rules like keeping your pet caged at all times. The only thing they told us was they would prefer if we didn't leave them alone and we were responsible for any damages they cause.

Optimus thought she should drive!
We had a very smooth trip. The most trouble we had was getting into the temporary apartment we are staying in until we close on our house. When we called ahead they told us we could pay all the deposits with debit/credit card but when we got here they decided they would only take a money order, which you can't get unless you have cash... To make a LONG story short it was a long 3 hours trying to get the cash needed to pay the deposits and get our keys! Business professionals giving misguided information to it's customers is one of my biggest pet peeves!

But all and all our trip was a success and we are here in the smallest apartment I have ever seen.

Breaking News!

Whew...so much going on right now!

James' mom is coming to visit tomorrow! I am very excited to hang out with her when there is nothing stressful going on! The first time I saw her was James' WOCS graduation and the second time what at our wedding! While there are things going on this weekend they aren't stressful and that is going to be awesome! Tomorrow after we pick her up from the airport James and I are getting baptized!! Tomorrow night we are having dinner with some friends, Sunday is Easter church, and then Monday is James birthday!! He's old! I mean like over the hill old. So old he can't even remember how old he is or how old he is going to be. Haha last week someone asked him how old he is going to be and he said "Well, I am 27 now" at which point I interupted to let him know that he is currently 26 not 27 haha! Yep, that's my husband, an old man with memory loss! [I love you baby] I can't wait to share pictures of what I got/made him with y'all but if I do that now he will see them and we can't have that!

There is also some very exciting news to share! I am so excited for the END of flight school. The end of flight school also brings my family to visit, family day at the flight line, the graduation ball, James' graduation, and our move to Ft. Carson!!!! Yes, that's right, Colorado Springs!!!! There are not enough exclamation marks to explain how excited I am! Colorado Springs was our number one choice. And...my big sister lives there! We should be heading out there in about a month! Hopefully we start getting some more information so we can actually start planning things like where we are going to live, travel, packing ect. I am ready to get this move going! There are so many things I want to do but it first involves us getting settled in!

I have also decided to add a page to this blog where I will post 'things the Lewellyn's say' Kind of like the book 'shit my dad says'. I mean seriously this stuff is too funny not to share with y'all! Not to be full of ourselves but we are a funny couple! For example here is a conversation James posted on his Facebook last night...

So Laney Lewellyn, my wife says "I bought ice cream for your birthday" this is then followed with "I already ate some." ...... my wife ladies and gentlemen, the ice cream thief!

Who knows maybe one day I will have it as a book! haha! :)
Anyway...check out my new page and leave me comments! I want to know what y'all think!

Post Dinner Ramblings..

I know, I know
Geez Laney two post today! Didn't you say enough earlier! Ha Those that know me know I have a lot to say! To be honest I am not sure why I have so much to talk about today but why not?

I made "Sweet and Sexy Wings" for dinner (recipe from www.paleomg.com). You can find this recipe in my recipes tab at the top of my blog! They were yummy but next time I think I will make some changes to more suit my taste! The flavor was amazing but I think I should have marinated them over night or at least all day and I may have liked them better if they were a bit more 'crispy' I think I will bake them without them setting in the juices.  Calling all cooks....any tips on how to get them crispy without losing flavor or burning them would be greatly appreciated! We also had pizza and beer (in a frosted mug)! I know, I am an awesome wife! I mean it is probably not the best idea to have wings, pizza, and beer and then go run a 5K tomorrow morning but oh well! We are really going to start getting more into the paleo diet. DIET- I hate that word I like lifestyle better. The only thing we are running into is that to have non bland paleo meals cost a bit more than we want to spend on meals. I guess being fit has its price! :)

5K..oh my! I know this isn't a large distance but for this girl it currently is. I want to run a half marathon but I just can't get back into the swing of running when I took 2 months off. I guess when bootcamp is over I am going to get back to running everyday. I am also going to start doing cross fit with my husband and his buddies. I am slightly excited. I mean I am excited about doing cross fit and being fit but I am not a fan about working out with my husband and his buddies because they are so much more advanced than me and I don't like when people are watching me workout. But I will get over it once I start seeing results!

I read a blog post from "Ramblings of a Caffeinated Army Wife"  about how while doing a full military move (where contracted movers come to your home, pack your things, and move them for you, you leave and then your things meet you there) their items were very damaged and lost. I know that your objects are insured through the company and are replaced if this happens but there are some things that can't be replaced.  This makes me nervous because in May we will be doing a military move. It is common to put your valuable in your own vehicle and drive them yourself but to be honest I just don't want my things damaged and lost. James and I were talking about this and he tells me that this is a rare occurrence and that these people know what they are doing but I need some reassurance. Has anyone done these full moves before? What was your experience?

Long Hair Cuts With Side Bangs And LayersI have been considering a change in hair style! The only problem is that I love my hair the way it is right now and I am afraid that if I change it I won't like it. I know, it's only hair it will grow back. The thing is my hair grows sooooooooo SLOW. Here is the hair style I am I am thinking about. I could really use your input.

Seriously people! Give me some comments on all the question I ask I am interested in what you think and what you think I should ramble about!
